Doha, Qatar: Umm Salal and Al Daayen municipalities have launched a joint inspection campaign for food outlets to ensure compliance with health rules.
This initiative comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the two municipalities with the aim of achieving higher standards of health and food safety, and improving the level of services provided to the community in general.
The initiative began with the implementation of a week-long joint inspection campaign for food establishments located within the borders of each municipality.
The first phase of the campaign was implemented at Umm Salal Municipality, where the focus was on the central kitchens located in the logistics areas of the municipality.
The stages of food preparation and transportation from those kitchens to the selling points within the boundaries of Al Daayen Municipality were monitored. At this stage, inspection methods were exchanged and food supply and transportation records were reviewed between the teams of inspectors.
The second joint campaign phase focused on Al Daayen Municipality, where commercial complexes were inspected and records of food received from the central kitchens of Umm Salal Municipality were tracked to the restaurants located within those complexes.
It was agreed between the two municipalities to continue this initiative and to implement joint campaigns that include slaughterhouses, fish and vegetable markets, in addition to cooperation with some other municipalities.
