Doha: Qatar University (QU) in cooperation with the Arab Planning Institute (API) Kuwait, organised the 5th Annual Conference on Entrepreneurship in Economic Development.
Considered one of the leading entrepreneurship conferences in the Middle East, it bridges scholars and practitioners interested in research, teaching and practice of entrepreneurship.
The three-day conference aimed to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences to advance and develop entrepreneurial research in
the region.
The objectives of the conference were also to enhance research cooperation between all participants in entrepreneurship and innovation; and developing sustainable policies that address economic, social and environmental challenges.
Dr. Omar Al Ansari, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Qatar University said: “I am glad to affirm that Qatar University seeks to create an entrepreneurial culture among the young generation by improving the competencies and skills of entrepreneurs and innovators. The university emphasises on innovation and entrepreneurship, and this strategy is carried out through a variety of academic programmes.”
Dr. Adam Fadlallah, Acting Dean of the College of Business and Economics, said: “Qatar University, represented by the College of Business and Economics, started organising this conference on an annual basis in 2014, but the circumstances that we have all experienced as a result of a pandemic have prevented the conference from being held annually in previous years.”
“The two-day conference focused on pioneering digital transformation including digital transformation in the fields of education, health, financial services, catering, hospitality, and other services, which will create many business and investment opportunities,” he added.
This year’s conference discussed a number of topics related to digital transformation, by hosting experts and researchers from Qatar, Arab countries and various countries of the world. More than 50 research papers were presented by researchers from different countries, discussing various aspects of pioneering digital transformation.
