Doha: Qatar started off with brilliant 39-12 win against Morocco in the opening match of Group A as the 24th ISF World Schools Handball Championships  kicked off at the Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Stadium in Al Sadd yesterday.
A glittering opening ceremony marked the inauguration of the prestigious nine-day event which ends at the same venue on February 28.
A total of 18 countries are taking part in the boy’s section while 19 girls teams will be seen in action in the tournament which will be played on a league-cum-knock out basis.
Today, hosts Qatar will meet Poland at the same venue while Austria plays Denmark in the same group.
