Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has organised a workshop on the Qatari initiative “QUEST” to educate Syrian refugees, which aims to hone the abilities of the displaced and refugees to prepare them to join formal education and the labour market.
The workshop was held a week ago in Istanbul and attended by a number of Syrian and Turkish education experts, in addition to officials from RAF.
The participants discussed the current situation of education of Syrians and the challenges it faces in Syria and in neighbouring countries.
The initiative continues for five years.
Qatar Development Fund has developed the initiative in collaboration with some Qatari humanitarian organisations including Qatar Charity, Education Above All, Reach Out To Asia, Silatech and Raf, as well as other main partners including Unicef, OCHA and UNHCR.
The initiative aims to offer primary and secondary education for displaced and Syrian refugees. It also aims to support youth aged 17 to 24 to get technical and professional skills, which will enable them to find work.
