A high level delegation headed by President of Poland H E Andrzej Duda will be visiting Qatar next month to boost ties between the two countries.

The visit will shed light on cooperation in several areas such as defence, security and economy, said Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, H E Pawel Jablonski, who is on an official visit to the country.  “President of Poland H E Andrzej Duda is coming to Qatar in early December to meet Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to discuss and enhance our relations and further develop Qatar-Poland cooperation in many fields,” Jablonski told the media yesterday.

Asked if any agreements will be signed during the Polish President’s visit, he said: “We are at the final stages of preparations. We are still to confirm particular elements but we will have focus on two very important fields — defence and security and economic cooperation.”

He said Poland was already optimistic about the outcomes of the visit.

Jablonski and Minister of State, Chancellery of the President of Poland, H E Jakub Kumoch, are in Doha as part of the preparations for the Poland President’s visit.

Jablonski said their visit is short but has an ambitious programme. “We held discussions about political and economic cooperation and had very important political consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.

Jablonski highlighted that there is potential to further enhance economic cooperation between Qatar and Poland as well as potential to work together in areas such as food security and information technology.

“We were discussing cooperation in various sectors. Qatar and Poland are working most efficiently and the most visible aspect is in the field of energy and there are so many potential fields of cooperation,” he said.

He said the aim is not only to support Polish businesses but also assist Qatari entrepreneurs in doing business with Poland. Jablonski explained that at present Poland is facing a huge pressure by an artificially-created migrant issue.

“We are discussing with many governments on how to prevent this and we are very satisfied that the government of Qatar has very big understanding regarding preventing illegal migration and preventing its root causes,” he said.

“We also discussed about cooperation in maintaining security and stability both in the region in the Middle East and in Central Europe,” he added.

In cooperation with Qatar-Poland Business Council and in partnership with the Qatar Financial Center, Qatar Free Zone Authority, Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, Qatari Businessmen Association, Qatar Science and Technology Park and Microsoft Qatar, the Embassy of Poland hosted the 2nd Qatar-Poland New Tech Forum, yesterday.

“Around 20 Polish companies participated in the forum and we learnt it was very fruitful,” Jablonski said.
