The connection of Taxiwala celebrate after winning the Sealine Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday.
Taxiwala (IRE) (Holy Roman Emperor), owned and trained by The Eng. Osama Omer Al Dafea, yesterday stormed to his eighth win, also his fourth straight win when jockey Faleh Bughanaim clinched the Sealine Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse.
Bughanaim and the 4 year-old won the 6f Class 2 race by 3¾ lengths ahead of as the 31-year old former Jockey of the Season made it a double on the day.
Khafooq (GB), trained by Gassim Ghazali and ridden by Marco Casamento came second while Dark Pursuit (GB), with Anas Al Seyabi in the saddle, finished third.
Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, presented the Sealine Cup to the winners who also pocketed QR 57,000 in prize money.
Bughanaim had earlier won the P/A Novice Plate for 3YOs over 1,400m with Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred Alrugrog (FR) (Mister Ginoux / Ishra), trained by Eric Lemartinel.
It was the grey colt's Qatar debut as Bughanaim finished ¾ of a length ahead of Iloucio (FR), ridden by Alberto Sanna.
Earlier, Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred Mwarid (FR) (Amer x Al Nachmiya) extended his unbeaten run to 4 wins in 5th career start.
Mwarid yesterday topped the field in the P/A Handicap (0-105) with Soufiane Saadi riding the Alban de Mieulle-trained 5YO to a 1½L win in the 1,750m race for 4YO+.
Meanwhile, Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s Saqr (FR) (Dutch Art) won his third TB Conditions, a 1,500m class 2 race for 3 year-olds, by impressive four lengths for trainer Jassim Ghazali and jockey Marco Casamento who recorded a double on the day
Mohammed Ahmed Al Hajri’s Seddik (QA) (T M Fred Texas) clinched the victory in Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (0-85) as the Dr. Fahad Salman Al Hajri-trained 6YO horse took the 1,500m race for 3YO+ by a length under Rashid Ali Al Marri.
