Doha: Music Lovers Group (MLG) held a press conference yesterday at Concorde Hotel to launch ‘Sangeeth Samraat’, a mega music festival comprising Carnatic Premier League, Hindustani Premier League and Carnatic Symphony to be hosted over the next three days at Indian Cultural Centre and Skills Development Centre.
Usha Ravishankar, Media in- charge, MLG, chaired the conference, attended by representatives from Indian TV channels’ satellite offices in Doha, Girish Kumar, President, Indian Cultural Centre, and event sponsors’ representatives.
Gopal Balasubramaniam, President, MLG, highlighted the overwhelming response to the event with 200 participants — children and adults — who have registered for different elements of the competition. He also mentioned the tireless work by coordinators Mala Karthik and Mythili Balaji (M &M) and thanked them.
Indian musician Kalaimamani Sashikiran, from Carnatica Brothers, spoke about Sangeeth Samraat conceptualised and created by him and successfully run for the last few years in the US, Dubai and different parts of India.
Violin Maestro Padma Shankar, Principal, Shankar Mahadevan Academy, explained how budding artistes across the world have benefitted from the programme over the years. Vidhya Ganesh, Patron, MLG, expressed pleasure to see MLG scale new heights by taking music to the next generation. Tomorrow, the Sangeeth Samrat 2015 starts with a grand opening at 4.30pm at Skills Development Centre.
