DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning showcased its more advanced technology platforms that enhanced public services during the two-day GCC workshop on the use of technologies by the municipalities.

Ministry IT staff presented model samples of their IT services including “Baleq” (inform) and “Dalela” (guide) that have been proven to be efficient in extended various services to the public. They also showcased before workshop participants on future plans for further IT development.

Impressed by the presentation, participants have recommended to replicate the Qatari municipality models that will benefit other municipalities in the GCC from the experience.

The two-day event aims to highlight the significance of using new technologies in developing municipal services provided to the public.

It also seeks to exchange experiences among the participating countries so that the municipal work can be improved.

The platform already implemented by a municipality in Saudi Arabia that links its network to all other municipalities in the same country, was also considered another ideal service that they agreed to adopt.

During the meeting, participants agreed to improve their experience in the IT services from local , regional and global coverage. They also pushed for the IT services that maximise the use of paperless technology.

The workshop is organised to implement a proposal to improve electronic services in municipalities put forward by Qatar during the 15 GCC municipal ministers’ meeting that was held last December in Abu Dhabi.
