Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will implement a temporary closure on the existing two-lane dual carriageway from Legtaifiya Lagoon (Lagoona Mall side) to the South Canal Crossing towards Doha, for 300 metres in each direction, as shown in the map.
The closure in coordination with the Traffic Department, starts on Thursday and end in December 2017.
Southbound traffic to Doha will be diverted to a temporary one-way road built east of the closed road near the location of the Pearl Interchange that will be constructed in the future, and which leads to the south via the new roundabout in front of Lagoona Mall. The northbound traffic to Lagoona Mall will be diverted to Lusail Street, as shown in the map.
Ashghal will also close down the existing 150-metre four-lane dual carriageway from the traffic signalised junction at Lusail Street to Lagoona Mall, diverting traffic to a two-lane one-way road leading to the new roundabout in front of the Lagoona Mall, as shown in the map.
The closure is required to complete construction works of key parts of Lusail Expressway, expand the expressway from four to 12 lanes, including eight as part of a tunnel, and replace utility lines under the road such as electricity cables, water lines and DSSS systems. Ashghal will install signs advising motorists of the closure and has urged road users to abide by speed limits and follow signs for safety. The Peninsula
