Doha: Good news for classic cars lovers, the Qatar Classic Cars Competition and Exhibition has been extended until Monday, November 22.

The Gulf Qatari Classic Car Association, which organised the event, announced that this is due to a huge turnout after the opening day on Wednesday.

Its Board Member and Secretary Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei said: “The opening day of exhibition witnessed a massive visitor turn out and we attribute it to the distinct historical value and relevance of the exhibited cars.”

He added: “The distinguished exhibition, which is organised annually in partnership with the United Development Company, has achieved a great deal of success in terms of creating a platform that showcases historical classic cars that attract a large number of visitors to Qatar, which in turn supports local tourism.  In addition to its touristic value, the exhibition plays an important role in educating the public, along with citizens and residents, of the importance of this facet of Qatari Tradition.”

This is the second time that the exhibit has been held at The Pearl Qatar.

There are 50 classic luxury cars on display located at Medina Centrale, The Pearl. The oldest of which is a 1931 Rolls Royce Phantom I, which was Rolls Royce successor in 1925 for the original Silver Ghost. The Phantom had a larger engine than the Silver Ghost and used pushrod-operated overhead valves instead of the Silver Ghost’s side valves.
