Khartoum: The Sudanese government has praised the State of Qatar for the urgent relief aid it has provided to alleviate the effects of floods and torrential rains that have occurred in different parts of Sudan.

Sudanese Minister of Social Development Ahmed Adam Bakheet said in a press statement, after the arrival of the Qatari aid to Khartoum International Airport, that Qatar's gesture confirms the strength and durability of relations between the two countries. He applauded the great role played by the State of Qatar towards the Sudanese people by extending a helping hand and providing the necessary support to counter the effects of the floods.

For his part, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan, Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi expressed his hope that the aid will contribute to providing relief to those affected.

Two Amiri Air Force planes of the Qatari Armed Forces arrived on Sunday in Sudan, carrying an urgent relief aid shipment provided by the Qatar Fund for Development in cooperation with Qatar Charity and in coordination with the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Khartoum.

This assistance comes as support for the Sudanese people to address the aftermath of the floods hitting the country and to support the Sudanese people in rebuilding what was destroyed.
