Chaliyar Doha holds meet for environmental well-wishers

DOHA:  Chaliyar Doha conducted a meeting for environmental well-wishers in context with the ongoing pollution crisis with rivers around the globe.  

Chaliyar Doha, which is formed primarily for the protection of river Chaliyar, expressed its strong concern over the recent contamination in Chaliyar River and it’s after effects such as Green Algae Blooms.     

The world is running out of rivers, and India is not different from that, the forum discussed various precautionary possibilities for the preservation of rivers. The event was inaugurated by ICC President Milan Arun.

The meeting demanded that the rivers should be granted with ‘Legal Person’ status in order to strengthen legal formalities for punishing crimes against rivers.  

Furthermore, the meet urges to have proper operations of water regulator system in Chaliyar River’s flow control bridges thus resulting in clean and non-polluted water.

The smooth flow of River Chaliyar by proper operation of the regulator system can solve a range of issues that Chaliyar facing currently.  

The meet also reminded participants about the significant of supporting Qatar National Environment day which was in last week of February.

Chaliyar Doha General Secretary Abdul Latheef Feroke welcomed the gathering. President VC Mashood presided over the function.

Former ICC President Girish Kumar and ICB Vice-President Baburaj delivered felicitation speeches. Chaliyar Doha’s patron Sidheeq  Purayil initiated the discussion session on the current environmental issues.

Sindhu Ramachandran, MT Nilambur, Usman Kallan, Narayanan, Rauf Kondotty, Hussain Kadannamanna, Ravi Puthukudy, Safiya Areekode, Naseeha Majeed, Basheer Vadakara, Soman Pookkadu, Ramla, Jaseeha, Shahida Jaleel, Muneera Basheer, Fasila Mashood, Mayin Master, Jaleel Kutiyadi, Zameel Chaliyam, Siddique Cheruvai, Shahana Elias and Zubair Pantierankavu were also participated in the discussion session of the meeting. Ajmal Areekode, Vice-President of the Chaliyar Doha delivered vote of thanks.

Officials of Chaliyar Doha said that there was a be ‘Snehasangamam’ Program at Skill Development Centre on March 16 at 1:00pm for recognising those who contributed in Qatar National Sports day events conducted by Chaliyar Doha, ‘The Chaliyar Sports Fest’.
