DOHA: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has announced extending working hours at several health centres to improve the quality of services for visitors.
The centres include Abu Nakhla, Al Daayen, Omar Bin Khatab, West Bay, Mesaimeer, Umm Salal, Al Wakrah and Al Sheehaniya. They are now open from Sunday to Thursday from 7am to 10pm without a break.
The extended working hours will be enforced in the remaining centres across the country by the end of next month, said an official.
Dr Mohammed Bakheet, Executive Director, Operation Department, PHCC, said the new schedule applies to general medicine and urgent care clinics, patient classification and customer services. It doesn’t include specialised and dentist clinics which may be included later this year, he added.
Weekend working hours at the Airport Health Centre have been extended to two shifts from 7am to 2pm and 4pm to 11pm. The new schedule took effect yesterday and Fridays will be included from March.
The extended working hours will allow more time and flexibility in services, especially during medical consultants and clinical examinations, and contribute to reducing crowding and waiting hours.

PHCC announced an extension of working hours at health centre laboratories in Doha city from 7am to 1pm and 4pm to 9pm.
Meanwhile, registration continues for the newly-opened Leabaib Centre for Health and Recovery, PHCC said. The facility includes a wellness centre and registration is open to residents of areas (70, 30, 68, 69) around Leabaib.
PHCC has asked people who want to transfer their medical files from Madinat Khalifa, Al Gharafa and West Bay centres to visit the PHCC website or the centres directly. Leabaib centre is the the first to apply the family doctor system, providing comprehensive service and continuous follow-up on health and wellness of families.
