Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani joined worshippers in performing Istisqaa (rain-seeking) prayer at Al Wajba prayer ground last morning. The prayer comes in pursuit of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when rainfall is delayed.
Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and H H the Emir’s Personal Representative H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani took part in the prayer, along with sheikhs and ministers.
In a sermon after the prayer, Dr Sheikh Thaqeel bin Sayer Al Shammari, Cassation Court Judge and member of the Supreme Judicial Council, called the worshippers to repent, return to God and make supplication to Almighty Allah for rainfall. He also urged people to ask Allah for forgiveness and pay zakat, which are one of the reasons for rainfall.
