Doha: Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) President and FIA Vice-president, and Vicky Chandhok, Chairman of the MRF Challenge, the first Indian-based Motor Sport Series, have agreed to work together to promote motor sport in the region.
This weekend, for first time in the history, the first Indian-based Motor Sport Series, MRF Challenge, was held under the floodlights at Losail International Circuit here.
“I am really happy to be here and after two years of conversations, finally MRF Challenge is running in Qatar. Thanks to Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah for all his effort to make this happen and for sure that his position in the FIA as Vice President will be a big help to increase the level of Motorsport. We really looking forward to have more events to come in the future for the benefit of the motorsport in the region” said Chandhok.
Al Attiyah and Chandhok met yesterday at the Losail track to discuss further how to increase the level of Motorsport in the region.
“It is an honour to host this event for first time at Qatar. For sure, this relationship has just started now, will be stronger in the future, with more events coming. We know that we are in the good line to promote this sport and we have to increase the level of cooperation working together. We are supporting a lot of riders, we promote the Losail Asian Road Racing Series where we had the presence of Indian riders and now, one of them is participating in the Qatar Superbike with great results. This weekend, we have Indian drivers that take part in the MRF Challenge here at Losail and I am very confident that more will come,” said the FIA Vice President.
