Doha: Doha Municipality conducted inspection of 803 food outlets and salons in the beginning of this month.
During the inspection, the inspectors found 119 facilities not complying with the conditions required by law.
Meanwhile, 684 food facilities and men and women salons were in compliance with requirements.
The municipality closed 14 violated outlets, five of them were closed on Sunday and includes restaurants and food facilities. The duration of the closure is from 10 to 20 days.
The violations reported include displaying food unfit for human consumption, preparing it in poor condition, not complying to specific standards and expired licenses.
It also destroyed 64.5 tonnes of food, including 26 tonnes of vegetables, 30 tonnes of fruit, 2.5 tonnes of fish and 6 tonnes of meat.
Meanwhile, Al Daayen Municipality closed two food outlets - a bakery and a supermarket. The bakery was closed for 14 days and the supermarket for 30 days for trading food harmful for human consumption.
