Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina: QMMF Racing Team riders Julian Simon and Anthony West had a promising start into the Grand Prix of Argentina.
On the fast and flowing track of Termas de Rio Hondo, located about 1100 kilometres to the Northeast of Buenos Aires, Simon moved up as high as second in the Friday afternoon practice session and finished the day in ninth position overall.
West was not far behind and climbed up to fifth position, but wasn’t quite able to match the speed of his competitors in the end because of a worn rear tyre and dropped to eleventh. With a new set of tyres, he is confident to be able to challenge his rivals in the qualifying session.
“I am happy because the setting of the bike is really good. My feeling with the bike is goodThere are three or four points on the track where I can improve and we will concentrate on these in the Saturday practice sessions. But all in all, we had a really good start here in Argentina and I want to congratulate the team on their good work,” Simon said.
“I feel good and the bike feels good as well! We did a lot of laps on one tyre, more than race distance, and I still kept improving, so if we put a new tyre we should be faster again,” West said.
“I was comfortable behind Lowes and could follow him quite easily and I felt as strong as many other riders out there. We had a small problem with the front in the first session, there were some sections where Lowes could turn his bike a little bit easier, but the bike was better. I am also quite consistent with my lap times, which is promising for the race.”
