DOHA: As the 32nd GCC Traffic Week comes to a close today, FAHES—Woqod’s vehicle inspection arm which set up a pavilion at the event—said most visitors asked them about the rules about the use of tinted glasses in cars.
Which window glasses in a car can be tinted and what percentage of tint is allowed by the Traffic Department, was the most frequently asked question by visitors, a senior FAHES official said. Of course, tinting the windscreen and the rear screen of a car is not allowed, said Ali Lahdan Al Mohannadi, in-charge of FAHES’ pavilion at the event. In remarks to this newspaper, he said yesterday pointing to a small car kept at the pavilion to show the visitors the most important parts of a vehicle. “The tyres of a car are the most important accessory. Only the original must be used since the climate here is harsh,” said Al Mohannadi.
All auto spare parts used must be original, in fact, he said. According to Al Mohannadi, most visitors asked them about the rules regarding tinting car glasses. “What percentages of tint can be used and which window glasses are permitted to be tinted,” said the official. FAHES is the technical inspection arm of Woqod which clears vehicles for being issued road permit.
Meanwhile, a senior official of the Traffic Department said that on average daily more than 7,600 people visited the Traffic Week since it opened on March 13 evening at Darb Al Sai in Al Sadd. This was the average daily turnout until Thursday, and yesterday being a Friday and today, a Saturday, the event will be open only in the evening.
“So we expect lower turnout as compared to the previous days,” said the official. On the other days, it was open in two shifts—both, morning and evening. School students form a large part of the visitors and they benefited from the road safety awareness lectures. Some 60 companies and state agencies and departments as well as semi-government departments are taking part in the evening.
