Doha: A virtual international workshop on updating the sectoral assessment of the risks of illicit financing in the non-profit organisations sector kicked off in Doha on Monday.
The two-day workshop is organised by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) with the participation of the GreenAcre Group from the United Kingdom, the National Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee, and the Financial Information Unit of Qatar Central Bank, in addition to Qatar Charity and Qatar Red Crescent Society.
This workshop is an important station for various stakeholders in the non-profit organization sector in Qatar, with the aim of discussing the summary of efforts and the best practices related to updating and developing the sector’s risk assessment methodology, to accommodate and facilitate management and effective dealing with emerging and changing risks and threats that usually accompany the development and expansion of programs and sector activities.
The workshop is attended by consultants Phil Cooper and Ben Evans, the founding directors of the GreenAcre Group. The workshop also brings together all stakeholders in the non-profit organisation sector, led by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities which oversees the charitable and humanitarian sector and is legally authorized to regulate, supervise, develop and protect the charitable associations and institutions.
