Red Bull KTM Ajo KTM rider Miguel Oliveira of Portugal raises the trophy after winning the Moto3 Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island on October 18, 2015.

Phillip Island, Australia: Portugal's Miguel Oliveira won an incident-packed Australian Moto3 Grand Prix to keep the world title race alive after leader Danny Kent spectacularly crashed out during Sunday's race at Phillip Island.

Oliveira on a KTM clung on for a 0.132seconds victory over Spanish Honda rider Efren Vasquez with South Africa's Brad Binder third.

Oliveira reduced Kent's championship lead to 40 points with two races remaining after the Briton crashed out on the 14th lap of the 23-lap race along with his Italian title rival Enea Bastianini.

Kent, who needed to finish in the top two to claim the world championship in Australia, had a heavy airborne fall after Bastianini collected his rear wheel on a bend.

It was Oliveira's fourth Moto3 victory after finishing first or second in his previous three starts.

Kent can still lock up the world championship in the season's penultimate race in Malaysia next weekend.
