Community comes together to celebrate Indian Independence Day

Doha: A vibrant performance of various cultural programmes was organised at the Indian Cultural Centre (Ashoka Hall) as the community celebrated 75th Indian Independence day on August 15, 2021. 

The performances by AOs, Mastero Arts, Telugu Kala Samiti, Sanskriti Qatar, TGS, Maharashtra Mandal Qatar, Bangiya Parishad Qatar, Palakkadan Nattarangu, Galfar Al Misnad Engg & Contg WLL, Telangana Jagruthi Qatar, Samanvayam and Karnataka Sangha Qatar was the result of a month-long effort by the participants. 

Ambassador of India HE Dr Deepak Mittal, and Dr. Alpana Mittal were the Chief Guests of the evening. Xavier Dhanraj, First Secretary, Indian Embassy and ICC CO along with other Embassy officials T. Angeline Premalatha, Hemant K Dwivedi, Captain Mohan Atla, Suman Sonkar, Dr. Sona Soman, and their families were also present.

In his address ICC President, P N Babu Rajan reassured the team commitment, to present many more events in the coming months with plans and preparations for the same were underway.

Krishna Kumar, ICC General Secretary announced the winners of the Short Video competition as part of the Independence Day celebration on the theme “Tribute to our Freedom Fighters” initiated by the Embassy of India in association with ICC. He also announced the winners of an online Quiz program conducted by DTM Mansoor Moidheen through Zoom. All winners were presented with a winner trophy with their names engraved.

Anish George Mathew, ICC MC, presented the ICC souvenir and was released by HE Dr. Deepak Mittal along with ICC Management Team. Subramanya Hebbagelu, ICC Vice President proposed the vote of thanks.
