Doha, Qatar: Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said another power generation and water desalination station came under attack on Saturday, July 18, triggering a fire and prompting emergency measures to safeguard the country's electricity and water services.

In a statement, the ministry said the attack occurred amid the ongoing Iranian attacks on Kuwait.

The incident sparked a fire in one of the station's components, leading authorities to shut down several power generation units as a precaution to protect workers and maintain the stability of the national electricity grid.

Emergency response teams are working alongside the Kuwait Fire Force and other relevant authorities to contain the fire and assess the situation.

The ministry said all emergency response plans and operational procedures were activated immediately after the incident to ensure the continued stability of the country's electricity and water systems while minimizing any disruption to services.

Technical and operational teams remain on duty around the clock to monitor developments and restore full operational readiness.

The ministry also urged citizens and residents to reduce electricity consumption, particularly during peak hours between 11am. and 5pm, to ease pressure on the power grid and support repair efforts.

It added that updates will be provided through official communication channels and advised the public to rely only on official sources for information, warning against the spread of rumors and unverified reports
