DOHA: Two public performances of a spectacular performance of Kalbelia, a traditional folk dancing and singing from the State of Rajasthan in India, will be staged today at 7pm and 8pm at Katara Amphitheatre.
The performances are being held as part of the celebrations marking the 125th Birth anniversary of Late Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution, and the third edition of ‘A Passage to India’ Community Festival in Doha.
World-renowned artistes performed the folk dance yesterday at Katara Drama Theatre. The artistes are sponsored by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, government of India. The artistes were led by Supki.
The programme was organised by the Indian embassy, in cooperation with Katara and the Indian Cultural Centre. On popular demand, the embassy, in cooperation with Katara and ICC, is organising two more public performances, an embassy statement said, adding all are cordially invited.The Peninsula
