
DOHA: The embassy of Georgia, in partnership with the British embassy, British Council and Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, will jointly organise a concert of Georgian pianist Elisso Bolkvadze (pictured), Unesco Artist for Peace, at the Qatar National Convention Centre tomorrow.
The event, the first of its kind in Qatar, is being held under Georgia-Qatar cultural cooperation. This concert is the final event of The Great British Festival Qatar 2016.
Eliso Bolkvadze will perform with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, a selection of famous music inspired by Shakespeare’s plays, including Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet and Richard Strauss’ Macbeth and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The concert will be conducted by Aleksandr Markovich.
Bolkvadze has won numerous international piano competitions, such as the Van Cliburn, (USA), Vianna da Motta (Lisbon, Portugal), Axa International Piano Competition (Dublin, Ireland), Marguerite Long competition and special prize for the best interpretation of French music (Paris, France).
