Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has reaffirmed its annual commitment to ensuring that endowment support reaches those in need during seasons of charity and benevolence, foremost among them the holy month of Ramadan.

This comes through the implementation of the 'Giving Basket' project in partnership with the Hifz Al Naema Center and with support from the Waqf Fund for Righteousness and Piety, providing essential food supplies to more than 2,000 underprivileged families across the country.

In this regard, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments Eng. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Marzouqi stressed the Directorate's commitment to ensuring that charitable endowments reach their rightful beneficiaries, particularly during Ramadan, when the values of solidarity and compassion are heightened.

The Giving Basket project, he noted, reflects the core mission of waqf in serving the community and embodies the true meaning of social solidarity, thanks to the generosity of donors and the efforts of implementation partners.

In a press statement, Al Marzouqi added that the project represents a practical model of integration between the General Directorate of Endowments and the Hifz Al Naema Center. Through the initiative, comprehensive food baskets are distributed to meet the basic needs of underprivileged families, ensuring that assistance is delivered in a timely manner while preserving beneficiaries' dignity.

He affirmed the Directorate's continued efforts to develop community partnerships that generate sustainable humanitarian impact, support underprivileged families, and strengthen the culture of solidarity within society.

For his part, Director of the Hifz Al Naema Center Ali Ayed Al Qahtani said the project is being implemented in partnership with the General Directorate of Endowments for the sixth consecutive year, reflecting its success and sustainability in serving underprivileged families nationwide.

Al Qahtani explained that the Giving Basket initiative aims to provide comprehensive food packages that meet families' needs throughout the holy month, thereby enhancing food security and supporting eligible beneficiaries. He called on philanthropists to continue contributing to such endowment-based initiatives with lasting humanitarian impact, emphasising that cooperation between donors and implementing institutions reinforces the values of social solidarity and strengthens the culture of waqf as an effective developmental tool in service of society.

The Giving Basket project is one of the endowments initiatives that reflects the mission of the General Directorate of Endowments in directing waqf proceeds to designated funds and purposes in accordance with donors' conditions, ensuring the sustainability of giving and expanding the circle of beneficiaries, particularly during seasons marked by generosity and benevolence.
