DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Urban Planning Affairs Sector, has won the prestigious Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award granted by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri). The award was presented during the International Esri User Conference, held from July 14 to 18 in San Diego, USA.
Director of the Survey Department at the Ministry Ali Al-Marzouqi, received the award from CEO of Esri Jack Dangermond, during the conference’s main plenary session. The ceremony was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry.
The recognition highlights the Ministry’s outstanding efforts in adopting and utilizing cutting-edge Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies, particularly the Plan Map system and GIS data layers.
These innovations have significantly contributed to enhancing the Ministry’s services and benefiting communities across Qatar.
The SAG Award is presented annually to select public and private entities worldwide in recognition of their excellence in leveraging GIS technology to support sustainable community development and public service delivery.
