Takasaki: Qatari athletes who arrived in Japan ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, yesterday started their final training after setting up camp in Takasaki.
Qatar will be represented by eight track and field athelets in Tokyo during the 32nd Olympiad which begins on July 23.

Dr. Thani Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar Athletics Federation, praised the mayor for hosting the team during a welcoming ceremony held yesterday.
Dr. Thani also appreciated the facilities provided by the city for the establishment of Qatar's training camp where the athletes will train for two weeks before moving to Tokyo ahead of the track and field events which kick off on July 30th.

Qatari team in Tokyo includes world champion high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim, Asian champion and World Championship bronze medallist Abderrahman Samba (Men's 400m hurdles), Ashraf Amgad El Seify (Men's hammer throw), former Asian champion Femi Ogunode (Men's 100m), Abubaker Haydar Abdalla (Men's 800m), Adam Ali Musab, Abdirahman Saeed Hassan (Men's 1500m) and female athlete Bashair Obaid Al Manwari (100m).
A total of 15 athletes will represent Qatar in seven sports at Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
