Doha, Qatar: The Department of Community and Continuing Education at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) has announced the opening of registration for its highly anticipated summer art and design programs, which will take place during July and August.
These programs aim to nurture creativity, develop technical skills, and build self-confidence, offering outstanding and inspiring educational experiences for children aged 8 to 14 and for high school students aged 16 and above. Summer Program for High School Students (Ages 16+) will be running from July 13 to July 31, 2025, the high school program will take place Sunday to Thursday, from 10am to 1pm.
This intensive, three-week hands-on program introduces students to the academic disciplines offered at VCUarts Qatar: graphic design, interior design, painting and printmaking, and kinetic imaging. An optional fourth week, from August 3 to 7, 2025, focuses on developing students’ personal art portfolios—an essential component for applications to art and design universities.
Participants will engage in practical projects, critique sessions, and collaborative exercises that foster creative thinking, communication skills, and technical abilities—all within an inspiring environment at a leading design education institution. Tariq, a participant in the 2024 program, said, “Before this program, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study. Now I know I want to pursue interior design—and I’m excited to apply to VCUarts Qatar.”
The Summer Program for Children (Ages 8–14) is designed for children beginning to explore and refine their artistic talents, this program runs from July 13 to 24, 2025, Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 1pm. Led by artist and designer Samam Azzam, the two-week program includes interactive workshops with a variety of themes aimed at encouraging creativity through fun and structured exploration. Children will gain new skills in areas such as drawing, storytelling, and digital illustration, while also strengthening their focus, imagination, and self-confidence.
