Ramallah: Palestinian residents of a Ramallah-area village where three Palestinians were shot dead by the Israeli occupation police in Jerusalem clashed Saturday with Israeli soldiers, who cordoned off the village shortly after the attack.

Three young residents of the village of Deir Abu Mishal, west of Ramallah, were shot dead by Israeli police outside Jerusalems Old City wall on Friday evening following alleged stabbing and shooting attack. One Israeli police officer was killed in the attack.

Residents told Palestinian news agency (WAFA) that Israeli forces have been surrounding the village since the incident, closing all roads leading to it and preventing residents from going in or out of it. A metal gate was also set up early Saturday at the entrance to the village.

The occupation soldiers seized 40 cars belonging to the residents and distributed leaflets threatening the villagers with harsh punitive measures, including a long closure and siege, raids of homes and demolition of the homes of the three young residents killed by police.

The army actions provoked the local residents, who clashed with the soldiers throwing rocks at them. The soldiers responded by firing live and rubber bullets as well as tear gas and stun grenades at the protesters causing at least three injuries from live bullets and several cases of other injuries.
