Doha: The Education Committee of Qatar Chamber (QC) Education Committee recently held its first meeting this year to discuss several issues relating to private schools, such as the capacity of students and the transfer of teachers.

Presided over by QC board member Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, on behalf of QC First Vice-Chairman and Chairperson of the Committee H E Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, the meeting was also attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Omar Abdulaziz Al Naama.

The meeting discussed several issues, such as the impact of capacity requirements on private schools, and it was agreed that the committee would prepare a memorandum in this regard to submit it to the Assistant Undersecretary.

It also touched on the effects of teachers’ transfer during the school year. Regarding this topic, the committee agreed to coordinate a meeting with the Ministry of Labour to discuss teachers’ contracts and how to prevent teachers from transferring during the school year.

The committee also agreed to form three sub-committees affiliated to it namely: the Digital Transformation Committee, the Nurseries Committee, and the Educational Centres Committee, provided that heads of those sub-committees shall attend meetings of the main Education Committee at the Chamber.

It was also agreed that the committee would hold a meeting every three months, and it could be more if necessary.
