Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that the southbound lane of Jassim Bin Hamad Street will be temporarily closed from Jassim Bin Hamad Roundabout to Al Rayyan Road as shown in the map.
The closure of about 380 metres starts tomorrow for six months and has been coordinated with the Traffic Department.
Vehicles from the Olympic Roundabout (Sports Roundabout) to west will be able to access Jassim Bin Hamad Street by taking the exit from Al Rayyan Road to Al Yamama Street, turning left into Al Rashid Street and right again onto Jasim Bin Hamad Street. Commuters wishing to access Al Rayyan Road via Jassim Bin Hamad Street will have to take a U-turn to access Al Rashid Street and then turn right onto Al Yamama Street as shown in the map. The closure is needed to complete the proposed tunnel that will pass under Al Rayyan Road connecting it and Jasim Bin Hamad Street. The tunnel will reduce congestion on Al Rayyan Road and Jasim Bin Hamad Street and provide easy access to the residential and commercial areas of Al Masilah and New Al Hitmi. The Peninsula
