Doha, Qatar: Diabetes Qatar, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation – Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology, organised an awareness event dedicated to adolescents living with diabetes on Saturday, February 14, at La Cigale Hotel, with the participation of 40 adolescents living with diabetes.

The event aimed to provide specialised medical guidance on safe fasting for adolescents through an educational session that discussed appropriate treatment plans, the possibility of fasting based on medical assessment, and the necessary health precautions to be taken during fasting. This approach helps maintain stable blood glucose levels and prevent potential complications.

In this context, Executive Director of Diabetes Qatar, Dr. Abdullah Al Hamaq emphasised that this event is part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to empower people living with diabetes to make informed health decisions.

He highlighted the importance of early awareness ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, particularly for adolescents, stating, “At Diabetes Qatar, we are committed to promoting the concept of safe fasting, especially among adolescents living with diabetes, through medical education based on individual assessments for each case, in collaboration with our partners at Hamad Medical Corporation, to ensure safe fasting and reduce health risks.”

The event also included health assessments for participating adolescents, during which the specialised medical team provided individualised guidance tailored to each participant’s health condition, answered questions, and reinforced the importance of adherence to treatment plans and continuous medical follow-up during the month of Ramadan.

This event reflects Diabetes Qatar’s commitment to spreading awareness of safe fasting among people living with diabetes and strengthening partnerships with national healthcare institutions, contributing to improved adolescent health and quality of life.
