Farmers & winter campers urged to be careful during rain; Warning against livestock grazing in open areas

As the unstable weather conditions persist, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has advised livestock farmers and winter campers to be careful to avert any mishap.
The Ministry has also drained 29,270,685 gallons of rain water through 6,411 trips in last three days. The emergency teams of the Ministry has intensified their efforts to drain stagnant waters in all Municipalities using 388 tankers, 45 pumps and 543 workers and employees of the ministry, said a statement.
The Ministry has urged all owners of the livestock-farms and winter campers to take care and be cautious of unstable weather conditions during the coming days and never hesitate in calling the environmental operation room of the ministry on "998" in case they need help.
The Wildlife Protection Department at the Ministry said that it has finished preparations at all levels, sea and land, to provide with necessary helps and services to livestock farms, winter campers and desert goers.
Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi yesterday urged the two working groups at the Ministry and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) to develop plans, provide equipment and make every effort to ensure the rainwater suction in all regions of Qatar.
This came during the Minister's visit to the emergency room operations at Ashghal, where he was briefed on the preparations and equipment for rainwater drainage and suction in various municipalities and joint efforts between the Ministry and Ashghal to deal with rainwater gatherings, especially that the Department of Meteorology forecast heavy rainfall during the evening.
The meeting was attended by Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Assistant President of Ashghal and Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, Chairman of Rain Emergency Committee at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
As rain has hit many parts of country the past many days along with thunder and lightning, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has publicised emergency numbers of all municipalities on its Twitter account to help people for pumping out rain water from waterlogged areas.
In addition to its readiness to receive a round-the-clock calls for reporting any environmental encroachments in any parts of the country, the department has provided with the operation room number for reporting and help.
At same time the ministry has requested the public and desert-goers to cooperate with the ministry and not drive out of the designated roads in order to preserve plantation and wild bushes. Similar warning was issued to livestock owners not to graze in open areas for the coming twenty days, because this will heavily damage the newly growing plants and grasses according to announcement on the Ministry’s Twitter account.
