DOHA: Industries Qatar (IQ), one of the region’s industrial giants, yesterday confirmed that contrary to reports in sections of the media, plans for a new LDPE facility in the group’s petrochemical joint venture, Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco), are still in a very early stage of assessment and that the project is subject to material change, or cancellation, said a press statement.
Furthermore, IQ, with interests in the production of a wide range of petrochemical, fertiliser and steel products, confirms that if the project is approved by the Board of Directors a statement regarding the expected cost, capacity and commercial launch date will be provided to the market.
