Ministry holds first aid course

Doha: The Ministry of Environment organised, in conjunction with Hamad International Training Centre, a course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid in which 27 ministry employees took part.
The course at the Agricultural Sector Department at Al Mansour Tower, aimed to increase awareness about first aid for traumas, injuries, fractures, unconsciousness, epilepsy, poisoning, hypoglycaemia and other cases.
Course Supervisor Rashida Abdul Fattah, from the centre, said time factor is crucial in cases and it is important to increase awareness and train people on how to deal with them.
Highlighting the importance of first aid to avert hazards in cases of heart attacks and critical cases, he said an ambulance arrives within eight to 10 minutes while brain cells die between four and six minutes.
