Doha, Qatar: Qatar were eliminated from the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship following a 3-0 defeat to Poland yesterday in Quezon City, Philippines.
The result confirmed Qatar’s exit from Pool B, alongside Romania, with both teams failing to register a win or collect any points after two matches. Qatar lost to the Netherlands in their opening match.
Poland and the Netherlands secured their places in the Round of 16. In their second-ever appearance at the World Championship, Qatar were outplayed by world number one Poland, who won in straight sets (25-21, 25-14, 25-19). Pape Diagne and Nikola Vasic led the scoring for Qatar with eight points each.
“We just tried to do our best against such a strong team,” said Diagne.
“The coach is pushing us to get better every day here. We all need to learn more, and playing teams of this level makes you push harder and improve. We’re a young team and we want to do better next time.”
Qatar will wrap up their tournament tomorrow against Romania.
