Qatar Petroleum (QP), together with several of its joint ventures and subsidiaries, took part in the 22nd World Petroleum Congress (WPC), which concluded on July 13 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Held under the theme “Bridges to Our Energy Future,” WPC attracted the participation of thousands of delegates, including many ministers and a large number of CEOs of major oil and gas companies from all over the world.
“The 22nd WPC conference and exhibition was an excellent opportunity for Qatar Petroleum to showcase its globally recognised achievements in the oil and gas industry,” said  Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, President an CEO of QP.
“It comes at a very important time in our growth highlighted by a number of announcements that would enhance Qatar’s leading position as the world’s largest LNG producer and exporter, particularly plans to raise Qatar’s LNG production from 77 million to 100 million tonnes per year,” he added.
In addition to its participation in the WPC exhibition, QP was also a platinum sponsor as well as the lanyard sponsor of the 22nd WPC, thus giving the corporation the opportunity to highlight its presence in the event and further boosting its standing in the global oil and gas industry. The Qatar pavilion included the exhibition booths of Qatargas, RasGas, and Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat).
Measuring a total of 400 square meters in area, the pavilion highlighted the comprehensive upstream and downstream operations of QP and its subsidiaries and joint ventures.
The WPC is organised every three years by the World Petroleum Council, and the 23rd WPC is scheduled to be held in Houston, Texas, in 2020. Doha hosted the 20th edition of the event in December 2011.
