MONTMELO, Spain: QMMF Racing Team had reasons to celebrate to at Grand Prix of Catalunya, with both riders overcoming most of their difficulties in practice to take the best possible results.
Anthony West (pictured), who had jumped into the deep end on Saturday when he decided to use a new frame on his Speed Up for the first time, started from 27th on the grid, but bounced back with an incredible first lap, which he ended in 13th position.
From there, he thrilled the audience with a breathtaking battle that continued on until the chequered flag, that he saw in tenth position. West is now looking forward to the upcoming tests of the team in Aragón, where he will continue his work on the set-up of his new frame.
Team-mate Ramon Ramos showed similar strength at his home Grand Prix. Starting from 32nd place on the grid, he was in 24th position after one lap and kept gaining, partially thanks to his own, much-improved riding and partially due to the incidents in the race.
He made up positions steadily and finally celebrated 17th place, his best result in the Moto2 world championship so far. Ramos will test the new frame in Aragón for the first time, with the aim of giving his results a further boost in the races to come.
