On the sidelines of the Qatari Family Day celebrations Minister of Municipality H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie and Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad with other officials and guests planting trees at the Expo 2023 Doha venue which is being developed at Al Bidda Park. The six-month long expo is scheduled to be held from October 2, 2023, to March 28, 2024, with the participation of over 80 countries.
Doha: In cooperation with Expo 2023 Doha, the Ministry of Social Development and Family yesterday celebrated Qatari Family Day which falls on April 15.
Minister of Municipality H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie and Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad participated in Iftar programme in Expo 2023 park.
This comes within the framework of Her Excellency’s keenness on the participation of families on this occasion and an affirmation of the role of the family, as it is the essential pillar in the nucleus of society.
The celebration included several activities, such as school visits, and awareness-raising seminars on the value of tolerance and the importance of family bonding.
Minister of Social Development and Family, said that the celebration of Family Day in Qatar is a significant occasion and a community initiative. “This is because when we talk about the family, we are talking about the building blocks of the society essentially. The family is vital. If families are well-qualified and educated about their duties, society will be reformed.”
She added: “It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to celebrate Family Day in Qatar with the cooperation of the International Expo 2023. Thus, we endeavour to instil values in the family while we are participating today in planting the bramble tree, because of its cultural and social importance.”
Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs, affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to spread the idea of building happy, strong, and cohesive families in Qatar by reviving the entitlements of the system of societal values and traditions. Haifa Al Otaibi, Director of Events and Corporate Communications at Expo 2023 Doha, said: “We were keen to organise this event in conjunction with the day of Qatari families to echo this annual social occasion that seeks to integrate all segments of society, including young people and the elderly.”
