Doha: An international training centre for local authorities, CIFAL Doha, was opened during a ceremony held today.
Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al-Marri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center in Qatar, and Alex Mejia, UNITAR Director Division for People and Social Inclusion and Head CIFAL Global Network took part in the opening ceremony.
The new center, which falls under United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), will contribute to advancing the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The center will also specialize in supporting sustainable development and combating corruption.
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) provides innovative learning solutions to individuals, organizations and institutions to enhance global decision-making and support country-level action for shaping a better future.
CIFAL is a French acronym for International Training Centres for Local Authorities and Local Actors (Centre International de Formation des Autorités/Acteurs Locaux).
CIFAL are established in collaboration with host local authorities/institutions, private sector partners, UNITAR and other UN organizations. Each CIFAL Centre is a hub for capacity building and knowledge sharing between local authorities, national governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society.
