Doha: In all, 26 students from Ideal Indian School visited Indian Naval Ship ‘INS Kolkata’ which arrived at Hamad Port to participate in the ongoing Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2018). The students’ visit to the ship was organised by Embassy of India.
INS Kolkata is one of the largest indigenously built destroyers to be operated by the Indian Navy as the part of Western Naval Command. The vessel has an overall length of 164 metres and 17 meters width, displaces about 7,500 tonnes and is capable of carrying most advanced weapons. INS Kolkata has a complement of 30 officers and 330 other personnel under the Command of Captain Susheel Menon.
Students got an in-depth understanding of the roles, responsibilities and commitment of Indian Navy. Students also got the opportunity to interact with crew members of the ship.
