Doha: Indian Sports Centre (ISC) conducted a host of sports events on National Sport Day covering all age groups of the community members. The National Sport Day celebrations started with providing an Indian stall displaying various sport personalities and sport events of India along with conducting sports quiz for the crowd at Khalifa Tennis Stadium. Further a demonstration of Yoga and Kabaddi game was conducted there for the public to show the heritage of a traditional Indian sport. Inter Organisation Amateur Football tournament was conducted in Al Arabi Sports Club with 16 teams having Pass Qatar as winner and Comtec as runner ups.
A ‘tug of war’ tournament was conducted for men at Asian Town, Salwa Industrial area with 16 teams of professional players . This event has drawn a large crowd of various nationalities. Sak Qatar was the winner, Social forum was the Runners up and Doha Warriors became the second runners up of the tournament. The Prizes were given by P Kumaran, Ambassador of India to Qatar, along with other Embassy officials K S Dhiman, Head of chancery and Capt Kapil Kaushik, Defence Attache.
