Doha: Sherborne Qatar has appointed Stephen Spicer (pictured) as the new headmaster of the Senior School. Spicer succeeds Michael Weston, who retires in July this year after 30 years with the Sherborne School community, a press statement issued by Sherborne Qatar said.

Spicer holds a first class degree in Business Administration from the University of Cardiff. He gained his teaching qualification (in Economics and Business Studies) at the University of London’s Institute of Education. He taught at Boston Grammar School in England before moving to the British School in Bahrain where he rose to become Deputy Head of the Senior School. Spicer is currently serving as the headmaster of the Secondary School at the Academia BritánicaCuscatleca in El Salvador.
The retiring Weston set up and oversaw the development and growth of the Senior School. He led the setting up of a school based very closely on the ethos and education standards of the historic British school which counts the Emir, H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, among its former pupils.
Weston said: “The success story of Sherborne Qatar and its pupils is a remarkable one; and one in which every individual has played an important part. I shall miss friends, colleagues and pupils. Doha will have a special place in my memory.”  The Peninsula
