DOHA: Doha Drug Store has pledged QR64,839 to Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) raised in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The fund raised in October during an awareness campaign was handed over to QCS on Thursday at Sheraton Hotel.
Themed ‘Show you care, be aware’, the campaign highlighted the importance of self-examination and being informed of breast cancer to ensure early detection and its prevention.
“We are glad to be able to contribute to the good cause and support QCS to continue its good work in the community,” said Benjamin Martis, General Manager of the store.
The campaign is estimated to have provided over 40,000 people with literature on breast cancer. The store two cheques worth QR40,839 and QR24,000 on behalf of invisibobble and Johnson & Johnson. Both brands are part of the store portfolio and had agreed to donate a percentage of sales during October.
Several organisations such as Curves, Marks & Spencer, Virgin Megastore, VLCC, Qatar Professional Women’s Network, Monoprix, Royal Plaza, Gulf Mall, Gate Mall and Sheraton Hotel support the cause.
