In line with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Banana Island Resort by Anantara in collaboration with the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) recently hosted a ‘Pink Power Event’.
The said fundraiser event was organised to support the Qatar Cancer Society and the wellbeing of the brave women coping with the malady.
In keeping with theme of the evening, guests dressed up in the colour pink and enjoyed a night of entertainment and delectable gourmet cuisine was prepared by ‘Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara’. Guests were whisked away by ferry and enjoyed a stunning sunset ocean ride to the opulent private resort.
Talking to The Peninsula, Dr Hadi Mohamad Abu Rasheed, Heath Educator at Qatar Cancer Society said: “Early detection of breast cancer creates high chances of successful treatment, it takes few minutes and it will remain for years. People have to first agree that cancer exists and then endeavour to know about their status. If it is detected early, breast cancer treatment option will be much easier. If it is discovered early, the rate of recovery is very high and it can be 90 percent cured.”
He urged women, especially those aged between 45 and 69 years, to go for screening.

More so, we are shedding light on the importance of women looking after their health, in order to protect themselves against life-altering illnesses and lead happy, healthy and productive lives,” he added.
Throughout the month of October, Banana Island Doha by Anantara’s Azraq Restaurant is supporting cancer awareness with a pink splurge. The Resort is also organising a Human Pink Chain on the island, where staff volunteers will take part, while Azraq Restaurant’s “Pink Brunch” aims to raise funds to support breast cancer patients by making a special donations to QCS.
Every Friday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, the award winning, all day dining Azraq restaurant’s “Pink Brunch” brings its patrons an endless selection of fresh seafoods, BBQ delights, sushi and more at live cooking stations, in addition to a variety of indulgent in pink-inspired desserts.
