DOHA: Skills Development Center (SDC) attracts big number of students of Indian classical dance, music and fine arts. Set up with an intent much above that of a business, the institute scores equally high in all spheres.

Unique strength that makes SDC special is that the students vary from the age group of 5 to 65, bridging the common interest of three generations or more and at reasonably affordable cost. Because more than an institute, SDC has become a home to some who teach, some who learn and some who are fond of the spirit within this organization. We call it a family, “The SDC Family” - a family that ignites and promotes passion for art and culture, said a statement.

The students are provided with ample opportunities to perform in front of encouraging audiences consisting of parents, friends and well-wishers. Events are arranged annually at the Centre in addition to stage programs for Qatar National day, Indian Independence Day, Republic day, various Indian and local festival days and other days of national and International importance throughout the year.

With inauguration of SDC a new taste of culture and art was introduced to limited space of extra-curricular activities in Qatar. SDC as it is popularly known came into being as the only professional institution in this country that teaches Indian classical Dance, Music and fine arts by working in the legal domain and quality assessment frame work.

The Management team led by P N Baburajan an active member of Indian community and his colleagues Vijayakumar Palakkazhi and A K Jaleel who have passion in mind.

Their collective vision was to preserve the art and culture, through proactively catalyzing growth of rich Indian tradition by inculcating the ideas of empowering creativity and advancements through leadership in professional education with concern for social and human values.

To make SDC an amalgamation of service, culture, art and values and as an exemplary example of tradition and innovation enhancing one’s talents and knowledge at an affordable cost.

The distinctive Mission of SDC literally speaks volumes: “Dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient Indian art forms and to continue providing quality education in Indian tradition & culture through the performing arts of classical and folk dances, vocal and instrumental music, and Performing Arts and Fine Arts valuing modernity art & dance forms.”

SDC is providing personality development courses and fitness-oriented courses as well. Innumerable students from all age groups for learning Karate and Yoga speaks volume and add another tangent to the growing universe of SDC.

Skills Development Centre equally amazes the people from all walks of life with its humongous goodwill and stature. It is intended to use the social virtue of music for the betterment of our students and to make them socially valuable personalities. Indian musical culture always cherished a sublime vision about this. Indian music always envisages in the refinement of one’s personality ultimately to achieve the bliss of harmony, and we at SDC, strongly believe in this aspect of human growth.

To spread its services best to the community, two years ago SDC opened a new facility at Al-Thumama in addition to the existing facility at New Salata. Further to meet with the growing demand of students and families, a new annexe has been built close to the existing facility, considering their convenience.
