Doha: Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri yesterday met Minister of Labour of Jordan H E Nayef Zakaria Nayef Istitiyeh who is currently visiting Qatar.
Stemming from the continuous follow-up to the agreement signed between the two countries in labour recruitment and the memorandum of understanding for technical cooperation between the two sides, the meeting was convened to discuss aspects of joint cooperation in labour-related issues, and ways to support and develop them.
During the meeting, the two ministers expressed their pride in the level of relations between Qatar and Jordan, and the confraternity between their two peoples, reflected in the wisdom of the leaderships of the two countries, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his brother, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, King of the Jordan.
The two ministers discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of approving occupational standards and labour inspection within establishments and enhancing occupational health and safety tools to reach an exemplary work environment, in addition to exchanging expertise in the field of labour disputes and ways to resolve them.
They stressed the necessity of pooling the experiences between the two countries in developing mechanisms for regulating the labour market, benefiting from technological leap and providing skilled and trained labour in various fields from the young generations, and both genders.
