Doha: Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC Qatar) hosted its flagship event IBPC Tech Qatar Summit (ITeQS 2023) under the theme ‘Engineering innovation for a resilient world’ at the Doha Sheraton to mark World Engineering Day for a Sustainable World and 50 years of bilateral relations between India and Qatar.
The event was a deep dive in to the latest technological advances like Artificial Intelligence, ChatGTP, Machine Learning etc, exploring the parallel between technology innovation and sustainability, with emphasis on the Qatar Ecosystem.
Eminent Qatari dignitaries spoke at this event, in presence of diplomats, businesspersons, professionals, business councils and members from the engineering community. Jaikrishnan Menon, Chairman of IBPC spoke about the objectives and mission of IBPC. Angeline Premalatha, Charge d’Affairs at the Indian Embassy enlightened the audience about the deep rooted and historic relations between Qatar and India as the two countries celebrate 50 years of bilateral relations.
Chief Guest H E Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Chairman, Board of Trustees, University of Doha for Science and Technology and Former Minister of Energy and Industry delivered the Keynote Address stressing the importance of modernisation and adaptation of technology by the various sectors in Qatar.
Nishad Azeem, CEO, Coastal Qatar and Member of IBPC Board of Governors moderated the panel discussion comprising of Former Minister of Information & Communication Technology H E Dr. Hessa Al Jaber, Chairperson Es’hailSat and Malomatia, Ibrahim Al Jaidah, Group CEO, Arab Engineering Bureau, Sheikh Mansoor Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairman MBK Holding and Khalid Al Mana, Executive Director of Qatar Export Development, Finance & Promotion Agency.
The panelists stressed the importance of business innovation, early adaptation of technology, sustainable development strategies and opportunities for transformation in context of the Engineering Sector in Qatar.
The highlights of the event were the launch of the Engineering and Innovation Awards for corporates and professionals by Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada and the launch of the IBPC Qatar App by Sheikh Mansoor bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The event also saw the launch of a Digital Wall with faces of engineers who contributed to the development of Qatar. IBPC President Jaffer Us Sadik concluded by summarising the key takeaways from the event.
Around 400 high profile businesspersons, strategists, professionals and members of the media attended the event.
