Al Attiyah ecstatic on return of Abu Dhabi Rally

Abu Dhabi: The QMMF President and Vice President of FIA Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah reached Abu Dhabi yesterday to attend the official kick-off of Abu Dhabi  Candidate Rally 2014.
 The event is one of the recently inserted candidate rallies in this season, besides the Oman and Shiraz rallies.
Al Attiyah was one of the most important forces behind the revival of Abu Dhabi and Oman rallies as he worked for the task since he became the deputy head of FIA in last December.
In his statement on the occasion of the attendance the official start of Abu Dhabi, Al Attiyah said: “I would like to thank the government of Abu Dhabi for its efforts for the return Abu Dhabi Rally which is considered one of the most important rallies in the region.” The absence of Abu Dhabi rally affected negatively on the Middle East Championship for Rallies, consequently, the package of decisions and projects established by Abu Dhabi government helped much to restore Abu Dhabi Rally.
Al Attiyah added that the special support of Abu Dhabi government will contribute positively in developing the motor sport in both UAE, Middle East region and North Africa, due to the leading role of Abu Dhabi in all aspects. Al Attiyah indicated that the return of Abu Dhabi Rally this year will contribute in a direct way in pushing the wheel of motor sport in general and the rally sport in particular in the gulf area, Middle East and North Africa. He felt that it will also open a new promising future in the region, due to the availability of such support and good communication between all unions and clubs under FIA to develop the concept of motor sport.
Al Attiyah also mentioned the efforts of Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi, the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Motors Club saying that the role Sheikh Khalid in return of the Abu Dhabi Rally was prominent.
“His special efforts were and still the main reason in promoting the level and standard of the game, we all support this approach to reach the real concept of this sport,” commented Al Attiyah.
It’s worth saying that Abu Dhabi Candidate Rally 2014 is the yield of cooperation between Abu Dhabi Motors club and the FIA. Also Yas Motors club will be qualified to be inserted into the agenda of Middle East Championship for Rallies 2015.
The Abu Dhabi Candidate Rally consists of nine stages. The first will be the show stage at Yas circuit on October 16 followed by eight stages for speed races on October 17. The head quarter for Abu Dhabi rally will be in Yas circuit.
Also the show stage will be performed at the north part of Yas circuit, Formula 1 circuit, where each participant will have two chances to score the less time.  The entry registration for all the participant cars was closed on October 9.THE PENINSULA
