Doha: Ooredoo volunteers have surprised families waiting for the Ramadan Cannon in Doha by distributing Iftar boxes when the cannon was fired.
The firing of the ‘Midfa Al Iftar’ (Ramadan cannon) announces the breaking of the fast and is a very old tradition still practised across the region. After hearing the cannon, families gathered to break fast and enjoy the sunset at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque, while children played and took pictures with the Ooredoo team.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “It’s a great honour to share this experience with our community. “The Midfa Al Iftar tradition is something that keeps our culture alive and we welcome everyone to come and enjoy this spirit of togetherness.” The visit was part of community and charity activities during the Holy Month at various locations around the country.
